Project
Located in the heart of Kohimarama, a coastal suburb in Auckland, lies this newly developed block of terraced houses. Boasting open-plan living and privacy, these houses epitomise modern living.
Each house is spread over three levels to make the most of the terraced design. With a mix of natural materials like timber and concrete along with skylights to enhance natural light, these homes are fully specced and display top-quality finishes throughout.
Challenge
We were approached by the architect – The Development Collective – to provide louvres blades that would be placed strategically on the exterior of the homes for practicality, and aesthetics.
The original design for the terraced houses called for timber louvres, however a more cost-effective solution that required less maintenance was needed. The architect required louvre blades at a lower price point, that still provided a sleek timber look.
Solution
Solaris 110 clasp-fixed louvres were supplied in a woodgrain powdercoat finish – Light Manuka. This woodgrain finish is near identical to the original timber specified which allowed the architect to achieve the same design aesthetically, as what was initially planned.
There are many benefits to using aluminium louvre blades for a project like this one. Aluminium will not warp or fade, the same way that timber does over time – this means much less maintenance for the occupants of the homes.
Along with the vertical louvre blades, we also supplied Horizon entrance canopies which feature over some of the entranceways for extra shelter.
Now completed, this terraced housing development ticks all the boxes when it comes to functionality, aesthetics and modern design.
